Certificate in German

If German isn't your first language, you can be unclear about what a certificate in the subject means. There are quite a lot of possibilities available. The DSD, or Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz, is the first one. It is a common exam that evaluates your German language proficiency, and if you pass it, you'll get a certificate that's accepted by the majority of German colleges.

If you finish a bachelor's degree in a comparable field, you can obtain a certificate in German. To obtain the certificate, you must enroll in a minimum of three German classes above the 2000 level. GRMN 2100 is a requirement for advanced courses. It is vital to verify with the German Department and the undergraduate chair to make sure you're on track to earn the certificate because it won't automatically appear on your transcript.Students who earn the certificate will be able to use their professional German skills to complement their other majors. The certificate will boost a student's resume, opening the door to better jobs or graduate work. All undergraduates, as well as University Special students who have other majors, are eligible to acquire the certificate. However, applicants are not required to have done any German classes before receiving their certificate.

The Goethe-Institut offers a certificate that evaluates your language skills. The Goethe-Zertifikat C2 is the highest level. Obtaining a certificate in C2 is harder than obtaining a C1.
